#tgifc417 Technique Challenge

I am again entering the TGIF Challenge, this week it’s a technique challenge, Partial Die Cutting. I have not had success with this technique in the past and was reticent about joining in, but I do love to learn new things and was determined. I am so happy with how it came together (after several failed attempts!) I used Shaded Summer set of stamps and dies from Stampin’ Up! and a piece of scrap designer series paper.

Just Add Ink #648

Just Add Ink is another challenge blog I like but have not until now entered any of their challenges.

This challenge is a Choose Two challenge, the idea being to choose two of the three elements in the challenge, Water Wall and Garden, and for my card I chose Water and Garden.

TGIF CHALLENGE #tgifc416

As I’ve said before I love entering card making challenges as they inspire me and motivate me to learn something new, polish a skill or get my creative juices flowing. This is another one for TGIF Challenges, and this week’s challenge is a card sketch #tgifc416, and I love sketches! I used Designer Series Paper which I embossed.

Using up scraps

I enjoy entering card making challenges, they inspire me and motivate me. This one is for TGIF Challenges, and this week’s challenge is ‘Use Your Scraps. I’ve been doing a lot of that lately, making room for some new papers from Stampin’ Up! next month.

A New Challenge & A New Year

Happy New Year! This is my first challenge for 2023, and it’s a new one. It’s the first challenge of the new year for AAA Birthday and they are kicking things off with the easiest of themes – Anything Birthday Goes.

Happy Birthday

My card is made using a watercolour effect by spritzing the stamp with water before applying it to the watercolour paper. I used two colours and slightly offset the stamp to give a shadowy effect. I patted the ink dry with a tissue before applying the second colour.

I hope you like it, to play along with this challenge click on the AAA Birthday image above.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day 🖤

Why challenges

Hi, as part of Paper Craft Secrets Design Team, I just posted another card for the Odd Colour Challenge, just one of the challenges for September, the other one being the Stencil Background. This is using the same three colours I’ve been using for this challenge, Red, Orange, and Blue. What colours would you not normally use together? You may be pleasantly surprised like I am. Challenges are a fun way to inspire us to use a technique, or in this case a colour combination that would seem ‘odd’ to us. They are a great way to s-t-r-e-t-c-h us out of our comfort zone, to learn something new and exciting and enhance our innate creativity.

We are ALL creative! We have a very creative God, who has put into us his own creativity. And as we are all unique, so is our expression of that creativity, hence my description of this blog, create your own kind of beautiful!

Stencilled background

I really love doing these mixed media projects! This card is for the second September challenge for Paper Craft Secrets, Stencilled Background. I love blending different colours, and using embossing paste with the stencils to give a lovely textured effect.

An odd challenge

I recently designed these cards for a challenge at Paper Craft Secrets, the challenge was an Odd Challenge, the idea was to create something that was odd for me, as in a colour I don’t usually use, or a colour combination that is a bit out of the ordinary. I usually go for purples, pinks and reds, and not much blue. Choosing the colours was more difficult than I thought, in the end I found an old Stampin’ Up! colour swatch, and I am really happy with how these cards came together.

You can do this

I am sharing a card I made for the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge. I love this Forever Fern stamp set from Stampin’ Up!, it is so versatile and it has become my ‘go to’ set for foliage. The sketch is below. I started by die cutting a circle in the white cardstock, mounting it onto a piece of grey cardstock and tucking the stamped and die cut foliage into the gap. Very simple.
